The Super Bowl is just over a week away. It is time to start planning what you are going to serve at your party, or what you are going to take to a party. I came up with a few options for Super Bowl snacks, Super Bowl appetizers, and a Super Bowl main dish. Check out my post from last year for Healthy Super Bowl Foods.

Super Bowl Snacks

Pico De Gallo

  • 4 Tomatoes
  • 1 Onion
  • 1 Lime (Juiced)
  • Fresh Cilantro (To taste)

Chop it all up and mix it together. Fresh and tasty. Goes well with chips, or as an addition to other snack foods.


  • 3 Avacadoes
  • 2 Tomatoes
  • 1/2 Onion
  • 1 Lemon (Juiced)
  • 1 Clove Garlic
  • 1 tsp Salt

Dice the tomatoes, onion, and garlic. Add all of the ingredients to a bowl and mash until you have a smooth consistency. You can also puree in a food processor. Guacamole makes everything taste better. It should be a staple at any Super Bowl Party.

Super Bowl Appetizers

Healthy Super Bowl AppetizersQuinoa Stuffed Peppers

  • 1 Bag Small Peppers
  • 1 Onion
  • 3/4 Cup Quinoa
  • 2 tsp Olive Oil
  • 3 Cloves Garlic
  • 1 Can Black Beans (Drained)
  • 1 Can Corn (Drained)
  • 2 Cans Diced Tomatoes
  • 2 Cups Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
  • 1 Cup Water

Start by washing the peppers and chopping the tops off and removing the seeds. Put those aside and begin to warm the olive oil in a sauce pan. Chop the onion and garlic. Add this to the oil and saute for 5-10 minutes until tender. Add beans, corn, quinoa, tomatoes and one cup water. Cover the pain and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to a simmer for 20 minutes.

Mix in two cups of mozzarella cheese and spoon the mixture into the peppers. Preheat oven to 350 and bake covered in tin foil for 35 minutes. Remove tin foil and bake an additional 15 minutes. These are delicious, nutritious and easy to pick up and eat.

Bacon Wrapped Chicken Cubes

  • 4 Chicken Breasts (Cubed)
  • 1 Package Bacon

Cube the chicken into about one inch cubes. Cut slices of bacon in half. Wrap a piece of bacon around each chicken cube and hold in place with a toothpick. Preheat oven to 350. Line a baking dish with tin foil and place bacon wrapped chicken cubes (toothpick up) into the dish and bake for approximately 35-45 minutes, or until the juices run clear.

These are easy to pick up and eat because they are bite sized. Plus they are delicious. Bacon, enough said.

Super Bowl Main Dishes

Healthy Super Bowl Main DishSquash With Sausage & Honey

  • 2 Squash
  • 2 lbs Sausage
  • 1/2 Cup Honey

Cut each squash in half and remove the seeds.  Preheat an oven to 350 and place each half of the squash cut side up and bake for 35-45 minutes until tender. While you are baking the squash, brown the sausage and drain.

Use a fork to scrape out the inner portion of the squash and place in a bowl. Mix in the sausage and and honey until mixed thoroughly. This is a great warm dish that is both sweet and a little spicy depending on the type of sausage that you use.

Philly Steak Tortilla

  • 16 oz Can Beef Broth
  • 1 Rump Roast
  • 2 Onions
  • 3 Green Peppers
  • 16 oz mushrooms
  • 4 tsp Italian Seasoning
  • Tortillas
  • Mozzarella Cheese (Sliced)

This one will take a bit of prep work. You are going to have to cook a rump roast on low in a crock pot for 8 hours. You add in the italian seasoning, 1 cup water, and the beef broth. Chop the onions, peppers, and mushrooms and add during the last two hours of cooking. When the roast is done cooking, slice it into thin strips.

Place a few strips on a tortilla with peppers, onions, and mushrooms. Place a slice of mozzarella cheese on top and roll the tortilla up. Place in a baking dish and cook for 10 minutes on 350 degrees in the oven. This one packs the flavor in without being heavy with a hoagie bun.
